The possibilities of modern libraries and librarians of the world in supporting the movement of civil science are demonstrated. The concepts of "citizen science" and "citizen scientists" are considered with specific examples. Thus, a pilot project is presented in the already well-established activity of the Scientific and Technical Library of Dnipro National University of Railway Transport in the field of Digital Library Publishing to create a popular publication "The history of old Yekaterinoslav and the province in photographs" (compiled by A. Adamian).
