Abstract
The modern digital landscape is rapidly evolving, presenting libraries with the task of not only preserving digital content but also curating it. This is particularly important in the context of Open Science and open data, specifically the principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reuse (FAIR) of digital data. The challenges demand the development of effective library strategies for digital curation and the enhancement of librarians' skills, including through library education and lifelong learning. This article examines the main global trends in digital curation and the prospects for implementing these practices in Ukrainian libraries, especially according the National Open Science Plan and the adoption of access to research data. The research methods include a critical review of domestic and international publications on digital curation, official documents, and specific websites of Ukrainian libraries dedicated to open research data. The results of the study highlight the need for a comprehensive approach to digital curation as a new function of libraries, the role of university libraries in coordinating and advocating this work at the institutional level, and the introduction of digital curation as a specialization within the library field, such as data librarians (data curators), who can be members of research teams in data management.
